Ibrahim Nasiru, a suspect in a terrorism case, will remain in DSS custody for an extended period of 60 days, following a court order issued by Justice Peter Lifu.

In a recent ruling by Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, the Department of State Services (DSS) has received permission to detain suspected terrorist Ibrahim Nasiru for an extended period of 60 days. This decision, which aims to facilitate a comprehensive investigation into various allegations against the suspect, comes into effect from August 27.

The ruling was delivered on Tuesday following an ex-parte application submitted by the DSS, represented by Barrister Yunusa Idris Umar. The lawyer detailed that Nasiru was apprehended on July 29 and initially brought before a Magistrate Court in Abuja, where an order for his detention was first secured. However, the DSS underscored the necessity for further investigation, citing a series of terror activities linked to the suspect.

While the specifics of the alleged activities were not disclosed in court for security reasons, the lawyer emphasized the urgency of the request, highlighting the broader implications for national security. After reviewing the documentation presented, Justice Lifu granted the DSS’s petition, allowing for a 60-day period of detention dedicated to further interrogation and investigation of Ibrahim Nasiru. This ruling underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to address security challenges within the country.
