Ndubuisi Emeh, APC chieftain in Abia State, challenges Labour Party to allow a national body to oversee local government elections, confident of APC's victory. He attributes Labour Party's past success to a transient "Obidient wave" and predicts APC's takeover

In a bold move, Ndubuisi Emeh, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, has urged the Labour Party (LP) to permit a national body to oversee the forthcoming local government elections in the state. Emeh expressed confidence that the APC would secure victory in all available seats.

Speaking in an interview with ABN TV following a recent meeting of APC stakeholders, Emeh emphasized that the Labour Party lacks genuine popularity in Abia. He attributed LP’s success in the 2023 governorship elections to the transient “Obidient wave” rather than enduring support. Emeh asserted that the APC is set to make significant gains in the state, predicting a complete takeover by 2027, a transition he believes would affirm the popularity of APC and President Bola Tinubu in the region.

Emeh reiterated his commitment to rallying support for APC leaders in Abia State, including Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, as the party gears up for the electoral contest ahead. He stressed, “APC must take Abia State come 2027. Even this coming local government election, APC is sweeping everywhere in the state to tell that you that we own this state.”

Emeh also raised concerns over the local government election process, asserting that conducting elections at the state level could undermine local government autonomy. He called on the National Assembly to facilitate a fair election process that would allow APC to showcase its grassroots support and affirm its political strength in Abia State.
