Keith Wyness, the former CEO of Aston Villa, has expressed doubts about Pep Guardiola’s willingness to manage in League Two should Manchester City be relegated following the alleged financial rule breaches. Guardiola has committed to coaching City even in the lower leagues, but Wyness speculates that if the assurances of no misconduct are proven false, Guardiola would likely depart.

The potential repercussions of a negative ruling against Manchester City are significant, and Wyness believes Guardiola would not be inclined to manage at that level. It’s difficult to envision Guardiola, who has led City to its peak as well as having managed top clubs like Bayern Munich and Barcelona, adapting to the lowest tier of the Football League. Unlike Ally McCoist, who remained with Rangers after their demotion, Guardiola has a long-standing and decorated tenure since 2016, making it improbable for him to undertake the challenge of restoring City’s elite status.

In the hypothetical scenario of City’s demotion, many managers would eagerly take the helm of the former Premier League champions, but it’s unlikely that Guardiola would remain for an extended period if faced with managing in League Two.
