Beans are one of the most consumed foods here in Nigeria. Its large consumption is mostly because most people think it helps in making a child grow taller. This article is to enlighten us more on what uses and benefits we can get from it

There have always been controversies on the category this wonderful and sumptuous meal belongs some say beans are a full protein and help in growth. could this be a myth or the truth? Well, let's look at these categories.
Beans have different kinds of species and kinds
Lentils are rich in polyphenols and plant-based compounds that have both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Higher intakes of polyphenols have been associated with lower risk of diseases like diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer, according to a 2021 review published in Nutrients. When you take a look at this type of species, it is understood. Mostly we use Lentil in making soups but most of us do not know its uses. We all feel since lentils are in the soup getting taller is guaranteed.
But that is not all there is about this food we also have white beans which roughly provide 125 grams of calories in total, black beans in very rich in vitamins and so many more.
Beans are highly recommended for diabetes patients because they help control blood sugar. Highly proteinous and helps with weight loss can you imagine this? each cup has less than 15 grams of calories in it. So if you need to tone down a bit beans are the best option. It is very rich in fibre and provides adequate vitamins in the body. Isn't this great for the body system?
Now for the best part; Your body uses iron to make blood proteins (hemoglobin and myoglobin) that help move oxygen around your body. It's also a key nutrient for your hormones and connective tissue like tendons and ligaments. A cup of soybeans has almost 9 milligrams. You can cook soybean pods, also called edamame, in salted boiling water.  Eat them warm, straight out of the pod.  It provides magnesium which helps stabilize blood sugar, a full chock of potassium in lima beans and Zinc, did I just write Zinc which helps children fight against unwanted germs, helps heal quickly and increases your sense of taste and smell? Vitamin B is not left out. This particular vitamin is very good for pregnant women or women who want children as it helps prevent certain birth defects. It also has a little bit of starch in it and most importantly the gas.
It is always the gas; As the saying goes "Too much of everything is bad. so eat considerably to avoid side effects".  As for me, it is me and Ewa aganyin every day.
