In January 2021, Mary Anne Oliver-Snow, a cosplay content creator known as Snow The Salt Queen online, tragically shot and killed her friend Helen Rose Hastings while holding a gun she believed to be unloaded to Hastings' head.

The shooting occurred in an apparent accident while Oliver-Snow and her friends were playing with a Glock handgun. 

She was arrested and charged with second-degree felony manslaughter. After her arrest, Oliver-Snow was released on $20,000 bond. 

Following Hastings' passing, Oliver-Snow took a three-week break from social media. However, in early February, she resumed posting more cosplay content.

In April 2021, Oliver-Snow faced backlash after posting a photo on social media cosplaying as a character from "Yandere Simulator," featuring her posing with bloody handprints.
