The Eze family has announced the passing of Senator Ayogu Eze, a distinguished former member of the Nigerian National Assembly, who served the Enugu North Senatorial District during the 6th and 7th sessions. Senator Eze passed away after a brief illness in an Abuja hospital in the early hours of Thursday, April 24, 2024, at the age of 65.

Kenechukwu Ayogu Eze, his eldest son, made the announcement on behalf of the family, expressing their profound sorrow and requesting prayers during this difficult period. The family described Senator Eze as a man of immense warmth and a dedicated patriot whose contributions to the nation and humanity spanned various significant roles.

Throughout his illustrious career, Senator Eze was known for his commitment to public service. He held the position of Commissioner for Information & Media and served as a Special Adviser in Enugu State. His political journey was marked by his tenure as the Enugu State representative at the Revenue Allocation Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission (RMFAC) and as a member of the board of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

In the National Assembly, he was a prominent figure, serving on the Senate Committee on Works and leading as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Information & Media. Before his foray into politics, Senator Eze had a successful career in journalism, where he earned recognition for his work.
