AC Milan restarts talks with Chelsea to sign Romelu Lukaku, willing to meet £25m asking price, despite reservations, as Napoli's interest hinges on selling Victor Osimhen, with Milan prioritizing Joshua Zirkzee as their top transfer target.

In a move aimed at bolstering their offensive capabilities, AC Milan has reopened negotiations with Chelsea to sign Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku. According to reports from Italy, Milan is seeking to capitalize on Napoli's delayed interest in Lukaku, which is contingent on their sale of Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea, who signed Lukaku for a staggering £98million in 2021, is keen to offload the 31-year-old permanently this summer. Despite his impressive record, Lukaku failed to live up to expectations at Stamford Bridge, leading to a loan spell at Roma last season.

Milan and Napoli are leading the race to sign Lukaku ahead of next season, with Chelsea demanding a minimum fee of £25m. While Milan is willing to match this valuation, they still have some reservations about signing the forward for that price.

Lukaku, currently on international duty with Belgium at the European Championship, is open to both Milan and Napoli. The prospect of working alongside his former Inter head coach Antonio Conte at Napoli is a significant draw, but Milan's strong interest and willingness to meet Chelsea's asking price make them a formidable contender.

Despite their interest in Lukaku, Milan considers Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee their top transfer target this summer. However, the opportunity to sign a proven goalscorer like Lukaku may be too enticing to pass up.

As the transfer window heats up, Milan is seeking to expedite the deal, recognizing that timing is crucial in their pursuit of Lukaku. With Napoli's interest contingent on the sale of Osimhen, Milan aims to capitalize on their rival's delay and secure the signature of the Belgian forward.
