VeryDarkMan, a social media influencer, arrested by Nigerian police for alleged defamation after exposing a scammer, sparking outrage and concerns over freedom of speech.

In a move that has sparked outrage and raised questions about freedom of speech, popular social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force on the orders of the Police Commissioner of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Igwe.

According to activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, VeryDarkMan was arrested for alleged defamation after exposing a Nigerian who reportedly scammed someone abroad. Adeyanju claims that instead of arresting the alleged scammer, the police arrested VeryDarkMan, a move that has been widely criticized as an attempt to silence a vocal critic.

VeryDarkMan, known for his controversial and often provocative posts, had reportedly used his social media platform to call out the alleged scammer, leading to his arrest. The police have accused him of defamation, a charge that his lawyers argue is unfounded and meant to intimidate and harass him.

This is not the first time VeryDarkMan has been arrested, and his lawyers claim that the police are using defamation laws to silence him and other critics. The arrest has sparked a heated debate about freedom of speech and the use of defamation laws to stifle criticism and dissent.

As the case unfolds, many are watching with keen interest, seeing it as a test of Nigeria's commitment to freedom of speech and the rule of law. VeryDarkMan's lawyers have vowed to fight the charges, arguing that their client has done nothing wrong and that the arrest is a clear violation of his rights.
