Nigerian music icon D’banj is generating buzz for his highly anticipated album, "The Entertainer D’Sequel," set to drop on Friday, August 16. In a recently unveiled trailer that captures the essence of an espionage thriller, D’banj showcases a stellar cast, including Mavin Records’ Don Jazzy, Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke, and media personality Jimi Akinsola, alongside himself.
The trailer features a gripping interrogation scene, highlighted by D’banj’s powerful declaration: “Just because the soldier rests his gun doesn’t mean he’s no longer a shooter. People keep asking me if I’m back, if I’m back. How can I be back when I never left? I am the entertainer.”
This announcement follows D’banj’s celebration of his 20th anniversary in the music industry earlier this year, marked by the release of his single "04" in May, and his modern reinterpretation of "Tongolo" titled "Koko" in June. Additionally, he has collaborated with Senegalese legend Youssou N’Dour and Nigerian-American “The Voice” contestant Chechi Sarai on the track "Worthy." These singles are expected to feature on what promises to be an exciting album.
With the release date approaching, fans eagerly await the return of one of Africa's most enduring musical talents.
