Liverpool's pursuit of Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili hits a snag over a €40 million valuation, with Manchester United lurking as a potential suitor. The Reds face pressure to finalize the deal, with a loan move to Bournemouth planned for the 2024/25 season.

In a developing transfer saga, Liverpool finds itself in a tense negotiation with Valencia over the potential signing of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. Despite more than three attempts to reach an agreement, the Merseyside club and the La Liga side remain at an impasse over the €40 million valuation of the 23-year-old goalkeeper.

Liverpool, aiming to secure Mamardashvili as their first signing of the summer, faces increasing pressure from newly appointed sporting director Richard Hughes to finalize the deal. The Reds had reportedly reached an agreement in principle with the player, who is seen as a long-term successor to Alisson Becker, currently attracting interest from Saudi Arabian clubs. However, any official transfer is complicated by rules preventing Liverpool from signing a player and loaning them to a Premier League rival in the same season. Thus, Mamardashvili would remain with Valencia until 2025, with plans for him to join Bournemouth on loan for the 2024/25 season to gain valuable experience in English football.

Despite the progress in negotiations, Liverpool and Valencia have yet to agree on a transfer fee. Reports indicate that while Liverpool's offers have been close to Valencia's asking price, they have consistently fallen short, leading to a "cold war" scenario between the two clubs. Valencia owner Peter Lim's firm stance on the €40 million valuation has only exacerbated the situation, prompting warnings that any delay could open the door for Manchester United to hijack the deal.

Adding to the intrigue, Manchester United is reportedly also interested in Mamardashvili. Sources suggest that the club is monitoring the situation closely and could make an approach should they successfully offload players. The young goalkeeper, standing at 6ft 6in, is said to be open to a move to Old Trafford, where he has been a long-time target for the club.

As negotiations continue, Liverpool faces a critical juncture in their pursuit of Mamardashvili. With the transfer market's clock ticking, decisive action will be necessary to avoid losing out to their Premier League rivals. The coming days will likely prove pivotal in determining the young goalkeeper’s future and Liverpool's aspirations for the upcoming season.
