Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on a five-year deal, but his departure from Atalanta is complicated due to tensions over his handling of the transfer. Lookman was omitted from Atalanta's season opener amid negotiations.

According to reports from Calciomercato, Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman is on the verge of a significant career move, with personal terms already agreed upon for a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The deal, valued at €5 million per season, would position Lookman among the highest-paid Nigerian footballers in Europe, though it would represent a standard salary for the French club, which boasts a roster of players earning considerably more.

Lookman’s current situation with Atalanta has become contentious. He was notably absent from Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad during their 4-0 victory over Lecce in the opening match of the 2024/25 Serie A season. His omission from the lineup is reportedly linked to his desire to evaluate his future, a move that has not sat well with the Atalanta management, especially as the club is already facing the potential departure of midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.

Foot Mercato has indicated that Lookman is actively pushing for a transfer to PSG, with negotiations reportedly advancing swiftly. However, the Atalanta hierarchy has expressed dissatisfaction with how Lookman has handled the situation, viewing his approach as disruptive.

Despite the ongoing tensions, Coach Gian Piero Gasperini has publicly praised Lookman, acknowledging his contributions to the team, particularly noting that the forward played a crucial role in securing the coach's first title last season. As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how Lookman’s aspirations will impact his relationship with Atalanta and the potential move to PSG.
