Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun (AY) has raised concerns about excessive bank charges. He questions how banks continue to report huge profits despite the country’s struggling economy and urges authorities to challenge these deductions, which he claims are unique to Nigeria.

Nigerian comedian and movie producer Ayo Makun, also known as AY, has called on authorities to question banks about the many charges they deduct from customers' accounts.

AY shared his thoughts on his official X page, wondering how banks make trillions in profit every few months, even when the economy is struggling.

He said that these small charges and deductions should be challenged because many of them only exist in Nigeria.

"How do banks make trillions in profit every quarter in a struggling economy? These small charges on our accounts need to be questioned. Many of these fees are only found in Nigeria. Why?" AY wrote.
